Short answer
Pick Spoly if you collect sports cards and want a scanner, preliminary grade, price tracking and reminders for releases, submissions and listing deadlines in one app. Pick Binder AI if you also collect Pokémon or other trading card games, want your estimate on a named scale (PSA, BGS or TAG), or want to use it on the web. The two overlap more than most scanner apps, so a same-card test, described near the end of this page, is the best way to choose.

How each app works
Spoly starts with a scan. Its listing says it identifies the card in one scan, then runs an AI condition check across centering, corners, edges and surface and gives a preliminary grade estimate to help you decide what to submit. Values come from recent eBay sales, auction results and collector marketplaces, with price changes over time. You keep cards in a collection with notes and tags, track its total value, and can set reminders for upcoming releases, grading submissions or listing deadlines.
Binder AI works from a photo of the front and a photo of the back. You choose the PSA, BGS or TAG scale first, and get an overall estimate with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written notes on what it saw. It also identifies the card and shows eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table. To check centering yourself, use the manual tool in the app or the free card centering calculator on this site.

Run a same-card test
Since both apps look at centering, corners, edges and surface, it is easy to compare them on cards you know.
- Pick three to five raw cards whose real grade you will learn soon, or cards a friend has already had graded. A mix of high and middling grades works best.
- Photograph each card, front and back, on a dark, flat surface with soft light and no glare. Use the same photos in both apps where you can.
- Write down each app's overall result and what it said about centering next to the real grade.
- Count how many land on the real grade and how many miss.
Five cards will not prove accuracy, but it shows which app reads your photos and your cards better. Binder AI's weekly web plan keeps the cost of the test low; see the pricing page.
