Binder AI vs Digital Grading Co: Which AI Grader Fits You?

Facts checked October 28, 2026 · By the Binder AI Team (we make Binder AI)

Digital Grading Co is the better fit if you want a detailed AI condition report on its own 0 to 10 scale, with defect markers on the card, a confidence score and market insights. Binder AI is the better fit if you want an estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale you plan to submit to, a flat subscription with grading included, and a web version alongside the apps. Both run on iPhone and Android. We make Binder AI, so every Digital Grading Co detail below comes from its App Store and Google Play listings and its own website, checked as of October 2026.

Short answer

Digital Grading Co is a grading app first. It is not a scanner that only looks up prices. Pick Digital Grading Co if you want a grade on its own DeepMint AI scale in 0.1 steps, a "Precision Defect Mapping" view of where flaws sit, a confidence score with each grade, and hold, trade or sell suggestions. It is rated 4.6 from about 3,000 App Store ratings as of October 2026. Pick Binder AI if you want your estimate on the same scale as the company you will submit to (PSA, BGS or TAG), want eBay sold prices and a graded value table next to it, or want to use it in a browser. If you are unsure, run the same cards through both, as described at the end of this page.

How each app grades

Digital Grading Co calls its grading engine DeepMint AI. According to its blog, it scores cards from 0 to 10 in 0.1 steps rather than half-grade steps, and labels results with gemstone names, from Diamond for a 10 down to Coal for a 0.5. It rates five factors, which are corners, edges, centering, surface and a "structure" score for warping, and gives a confidence score with each grade. Version 2.8.0 added Precision Defect Mapping, which places markers where it sees surface, edge and corner defects on the front and back. Version 2.7.0 added instant grading, and its in-app purchase list sells credits for instant grading. An earlier blog post from February 2025 says its standard grading can take up to 4 hours, with a queue that shows Processing, Preparing and Completed status.

Binder AI works from a photo of the front and a photo of the back. You choose the PSA, BGS or TAG scale before grading, and you get an overall estimate with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written notes on what it saw. There is a manual centering tool in the app, and the free card centering calculator on this site does the same math from border measurements.

The practical difference is the scale. A DeepMint grade such as "Ruby 9.3" is Digital Grading Co's own label, not a PSA, BGS or CGC grade. Binder AI reports its estimate on the scale of the company you pick, so you can compare it directly with that company's grade labels.

Accuracy claims and what is verified

Neither company publishes an independent, same-card test against real returned grades that we could check. Digital Grading Co's blog describes an internal blind study against PSA, BGS and CGC grades with a 98.7% match rate, but it does not explain how a match was defined or share the data, so we could not verify it. Binder AI does not publish an accuracy percentage on this site. Its results are estimates to help you decide what to submit, not official grades. Treat any AI grade, from either app, as a guide and test a few cards with known grades yourself.

Where Digital Grading Co is stronger

  • Defect locations. Precision Defect Mapping shows where flaws are on the front and back, not just a subgrade.
  • Finer scale and confidence. Grades in 0.1 steps with a confidence score, and a separate warping factor.
  • Extra tools. The developer describes counterfeit and altered card checks, an AR view and hold, trade or sell suggestions.
  • Set tracking. Recent versions added binder and Master Set views. Binder AI does not offer set tracking today.
  • Pay as you go. Instant grading credits let you buy a small batch without a long plan.

Where Binder AI is stronger

  • Submission scales. Estimates on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale, so the number lines up with the company you plan to use.
  • Grading included in the plan. Binder AI's subscription covers grading, from $1.99/week or $24.99/year on the website.
  • Sold prices next to the grade. eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table help you judge whether a card is worth the fee.
  • Web version. Binder AI also runs in a browser. We found Digital Grading Co on iPhone and Android only.

Which to pick by collector type

  • Collector who wants to see exactly where the flaws are. Digital Grading Co, for its defect map.
  • PSA, BGS or TAG submitter. Binder AI, since its estimate uses the scale you are submitting to.
  • Buyer worried about fakes. Digital Grading Co describes counterfeit checks. Binder AI does not offer authentication.
  • Heavy grader. Binder AI's $24.99 yearly web plan includes grading. Digital Grading Co sells subscriptions and instant credits.
  • Collector who wants grades, prices and binders in one place on any device. Binder AI.
  • Set collector. Digital Grading Co's Master Set views may suit you. Binder AI does not track sets today.

Run a same-card test

The fairest way to choose is to test both apps on cards you already know.

  1. Pick three to five raw cards whose real grade you will learn soon, such as cards in your next submission, or cards a friend has already had graded and cracked out.
  2. Photograph each card front and back on a dark flat surface with soft light and no glare. Use the same lighting in both apps.
  3. In Binder AI, choose the scale of the company that graded or will grade the card. Digital Grading Co will give its own DeepMint grade.
  4. Write down each app's overall grade and centering result next to the real grade. Remember that a DeepMint grade is not a PSA grade, so look at how close it lands rather than expecting an exact match.
  5. Count how often each app lands on or near the real grade.

Five cards will not prove accuracy, but it will show which app reads your photos and your card types better. Binder AI's weekly plan keeps the cost of the test low. See the pricing page.

Its listings as of October 2026 also mention collection tools, and recent versions added binder and Master Set views. It does not give PSA, BGS or CGC grades.

Is Digital Grading Co free?

It is free to download, but grading is paid. Its website says grading, market insights and fraud detection need a paid membership. Its App Store in-app purchase list as of October 2026 shows Lite Collector ($4.99), Rookie ($9.99) and Elite ($14.99) subscriptions and instant grading credits from 25 for $5.00.

Does Digital Grading Co use the PSA scale?

No. It grades on its own DeepMint AI scale from 0 to 10 in 0.1 steps, with gemstone labels such as Diamond for a 10. Binder AI lets you choose the PSA, BGS or TAG scale.

Is Digital Grading Co on Android?

Yes. We found it on Google Play, listed by Hobby Labs Ltd as of October 2026. On iOS the App Store lists it as an iPhone app, sold by Dominic Wood. We did not find a web version. Binder AI is on the App Store, Google Play and the web.

Is Digital Grading Co accurate?

We could not verify an accuracy figure. Its blog reports a 98.7% match rate from its own blind study but does not share the method or data. The same caution applies to every AI grader, including Binder AI. Test a few cards with known grades before relying on any app.
