Binder AI review: how it works, accuracy, price and limits

Updated October 7, 2026 · By the Binder AI Team (we make Binder AI)

We make Binder AI, so this isn't an independent review and we won't pretend it is. Instead, here is a plain account of what the app does, how accurate you should expect it to be, what it costs and where it falls short, plus links to the public store ratings so you can read what real users say.

What real users say

As of today, Binder AI is rated 4.6 out of 5 from 592 ratings on the US App Store. This figure is pulled live from Apple, so it changes as people rate the app.

Read the reviews yourself, good and bad: Binder AI on the App Store and Binder AI on Google Play. Store reviews are the closest thing to an independent Binder AI review today.

How it works

  1. Take the card out of its sleeve and photograph the front and back, square-on, on a contrasting surface.
  2. Choose the grading scale you care about: PSA, BGS or TAG.
  3. Binder AI returns an overall grade estimate, four subgrades and notes explaining what it saw.
  4. The same scan identifies the card and shows sold prices and graded values, then files it into a binder.

For the reasoning behind photo-based grading, read AI card grading, explained.

Is Binder AI accurate?

Honest answer: it depends on the photo and on the flaw. Centering is geometry, and a straight-on photo measures it well. Rounded corners, chipped edges, whitening and creases usually show up too. Fine surface scratches, holo scuffs, light dents and trimming are harder, and they are exactly where a human grader with a loupe has the edge. That means estimates can be optimistic on surface, and a low estimate is usually a more reliable signal than a high one.

Overall, Binder AI provides an 87% accurate prediction. We're also building a blinded benchmark against professionally graded cards for a fuller breakdown, and we explain the method in PSA vs AI grading.

Method note: based on Binder AI's internal comparison of app estimates with returned professional grades.

Is Binder AI free?

The app is free to download, and grading needs a subscription: $1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website (in the iOS App Store: $1.99/week, $4.99/month or $29.99/year). Subscribing on the website saves 20% on monthly and about 17% on yearly, and the yearly web plan works out to about $2.08 a month. Subscriptions renew automatically and you can cancel anytime. Full details are on the Binder AI pricing page.

What it does well

  • One scan, several answers: grade estimate, card ID and sold prices together, which is what you need to decide whether to grade.
  • Choice of scale: PSA, BGS or TAG, so the estimate matches the company you plan to use.
  • Breadth: Pokémon and other TCGs plus sports and non-sport cards in one binder app.
  • Phone and web: grade at a card show on your phone, review on a laptop later.

Where it falls short

  • It is not an official grade and doesn't add value to a card the way a slab does.
  • It doesn't authenticate cards or reliably detect trimming and other alterations.
  • Photo quality limits it. Glare on holos and chrome can hide or invent flaws.
  • No marketplace. You price cards in the app and sell where you like.
  • No free grading tier. If you only grade once in a while, our free card centering calculator and pre-grading checklist may be enough.

Who it's for

Binder AI suits collectors who regularly ask “is this card worth grading?”, people sorting a box of pulls or a collection they bought, and sellers who want condition and sold prices side by side. Binder AI review FAQ

Is Binder AI accurate?

Binder AI gives a photo-based grade estimate, not an official grade. It is most reliable on what photos show well: centering, visible corner and edge wear, creases and obvious surface damage. Fine scratches, holo scuffs and alterations can be missed, so estimates can run high on surface. Overall, Binder AI provides an 87% accurate prediction, based on Binder AI's internal comparison of app estimates with returned professional grades. Read how we validate grade estimates.

Is Binder AI free?

Binder AI is free to download on iPhone and Android. Scanning and AI grading are included in a subscription: $1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website (in the iOS App Store: $1.99/week, $4.99/month or $29.99/year). See Binder AI pricing for details.

Is Binder AI legit?

Yes. Binder AI is published by Global Dominance LLC on the App Store and Google Play, where its ratings and reviews are public, and it also runs on the web. It is not affiliated with PSA, Beckett or TAG.

Is Binder AI worth it?

It is worth it if you regularly decide which cards to send for grading, since one avoided bad submission can cost more than a year of the app. If you only want a free price tracker or you grade a card or two a year, a free scanner app or a careful manual check with our card centering calculator may be enough.

Can Binder AI tell if a card is fake?

No. Binder AI identifies cards and estimates condition, but it is not an authentication service. See how to tell if a Pokémon card is fake and use a grading company for authentication.

Which grading scales does Binder AI use?

You choose PSA, BGS or TAG. The estimate and its centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades are scored against that company's published standards.
