The Best Pokémon Card Grading Apps in 2026, Compared Fairly

Facts checked October 7, 2026 · By the Binder AI Team (we make Binder AI)

Pulled a Charizard that looks perfect? A Pokémon card grading app estimates how a grader might score it from photos, so you can decide whether it's worth a submission fee. We checked 13 apps and sites that pre-grade Pokémon cards, plus one popular tracker that doesn't, using each product's own website or app store listing as of October 2026. We make Binder AI, so we've kept to published facts and noted what we couldn't confirm. Every app here gives estimates, not official grades.

What matters for Pokémon cards

Pokémon cards are hard on a camera. Holo and reverse holo foil throws glare that can hide scratches or look like them, the yellow borders show whitening less clearly than the dark blue backs, and full art cards have no plain border to measure centering against. So when you compare apps, look at three things: whether it reports centering, corners, edges and surface separately, which grading scale it estimates on (PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC or TAG), and whether it puts the estimate next to sold prices, since a grade only matters if it pays. Our Pokémon card grading guide covers what graders look for.

Notes: GradeValue's site links to mobile apps, but we could not load either store listing as of October 2026. Digital Grading AI's site says it "is a paid service." Card Grading AI's Google Play listing comes from the same developer as its iOS app (Buconero Apps). Prices change often, so confirm on each official page.

Our take on the main options

Binder AI is an AI pre-grading app for iOS, Android and the web. You photograph the front and back of a card and get an overall grade estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale you choose, with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written condition notes. It also has a manual centering tool, identifies the card, shows eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table, and sorts cards into binders by game or sport with sharing and wishlists. It supports Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon, Lorcana, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, WWE and non-sport cards. The app is free to download, and grading is included in a subscription: $1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website ($4.99/month or $29.99/year in the App Store).

Binder AI is best for Pokémon collectors who want a grade estimate on the scale they plan to submit to, next to eBay sold prices, on their phone. It does not offer free grading, and it is not an authenticator.

CardGrade.io and Pregradecards suit people who grade in batches and prefer credits. Card Grading AI and TCG Grading add set checklists for Pokémon collectors. Card Grader Pro is the one app here that also sells human reviews. Rectifi only checks centering, but does it well from an angled photo, according to its listing.

About accuracy claims: some sites publish figures. SnapGrade AI says 87% of 412 cards it checked landed within half a grade of PSA's final grade, and CardMint AI says it has "95% alignment to real PSA outcomes." Those are the companies' own claims, and we haven't tested them. Binder AI provides an 87% accurate prediction, based on Binder AI's internal comparison of app estimates with returned professional grades; that's our own claim too.

Free Pokémon card grading apps

Most AI grading costs money to run, so truly free, unlimited grading is rare. Here is what each official page offers as of October 2026:

  • One free grade or credit to try: CardGrade.io (eligible new accounts), Pregradecards, SnapGrade AI and CardMint AI.
  • Ongoing free tiers: GradeValue's free plan lists unlimited scans and 25 saved reports. CardSense AI says free users get limited scans. Card Grading AI's Google Play listing says you can start grading for free, with advanced tools in the upgrade.
  • Free centering only: Rectifi offers unlimited standard centering scans, and our own card centering calculator is free in your browser.
  • Binder AI: free to download, but grading needs a subscription ($1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website; $4.99/month or $29.99/year in the App Store).

So the best free AI card grading app depends on whether you want one full report or ongoing centering checks. A ruler and a bright lamp are free too.

Best options on iPhone and Android

On iPhone (iOS): Binder AI, Card Grading AI, CardGrade.io, Cards AI, TCG Grading, CardSense AI, Card Grader Pro, Digital Grading AI and Rectifi all have App Store listings. On Android: Binder AI, Card Grading AI, CardGrade.io, Cards AI, TCG Grading, Card Grader Pro and Digital Grading AI are on Google Play. We did not find CardSense AI or Rectifi on Google Play. Pregradecards, SnapGrade AI, CardMint AI and GradeValue work in a phone browser.

What about Reddit recommendations?

Search "best Pokémon card grading app reddit" and you'll find collectors swapping app names. Treat those threads like any review: check the date (apps change monthly), whether the poster compared the app's estimate with a real slab, and whether they shot the card out of the sleeve in even light. A single lucky match proves little either way.

How do you pre-grade cards before submitting to PSA?

Take the card out of its sleeve, wipe it with a microfiber cloth, and check it under a bright lamp at a low angle for scratches and dents. Measure centering front and back (PSA's standard for a Gem Mint 10 is roughly 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back), then look at all eight corners and the edges. An app speeds this up, but the steps are the same. Our full checklist is in how to pre-grade cards.

Is CGC or PSA better?

Neither is better for every card. Many Pokémon collectors default to PSA for resale recognition. CGC grades in half points and reserves a separate Pristine 10 label for cards that are flawless under magnification, and its fees and turnaround differ from PSA's. Compare recent sold prices for your exact card in each slab, then the fees. Our card grading companies guide has current prices and turnaround times.

Can ChatGPT grade my Pokémon card?

A general chatbot can describe what it sees in a photo, like obvious whitening or off-center borders, but it isn't calibrated to a grading scale, and OpenAI's own documentation says its vision models struggle with precise spatial tasks. Read more in can ChatGPT grade Pokémon cards?

Is there a better app than Collectr?

Collectr is a portfolio tracker for raw, graded and sealed product, and we did not find a grade estimate feature in its listing. If you want to know a card's likely grade, use a grading app alongside it. See our Collectr alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best app to pre-grade Pokémon cards?

It depends on how you submit. If you want estimates on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale with sold prices on your phone, Binder AI is built for that. If you prefer credits and a web tool, CardGrade.io and Pregradecards are options. If you only need centering, Rectifi or our free centering calculator will do.

Is there a free Pokémon card grading app?

Some apps offer a free trial grade or a limited free tier as of October 2026: CardGrade.io, Pregradecards, SnapGrade AI and CardMint AI give one free grade or credit, and GradeValue has a free plan. Binder AI is free to download, but grading requires a subscription.

Which Pokémon card grading apps work on Android?

Binder AI, Card Grading AI, CardGrade.io, Cards AI, TCG Grading, Card Grader Pro and Digital Grading AI all have Google Play listings as of October 2026. Web tools like Pregradecards work in any phone browser.

Are Pokémon card grading apps accurate?

They give estimates, not official grades. Holo glare, sleeves and low light all affect results, and some flaws only show under a loupe. Some companies publish accuracy figures, but those are their own claims. Use an app to screen cards, then decide.

Can an app tell me if my Pokémon card is fake?

Not reliably. The grading apps here estimate condition, and Binder AI is not an authenticator. Only a grading company authenticates a card when it slabs it. See how to tell if a Pokémon card is fake.

Do I need subgrades for Pokémon cards?

They help. A subgrade shows which factor is holding a card back, so you know if a low estimate is a centering problem you can't fix or a photo problem you can. PSA labels don't show subgrades, but the factors still decide the grade.

Does Collectr grade Pokémon cards?

Collectr tracks raw, graded and sealed product values, but we did not find an AI grade estimate in its App Store listing as of October 2026. Many collectors pair a tracker with a grading app.
