Binder AI vs Card Grading AI

Facts checked October 7, 2026 · By the Binder AI Team (we make Binder AI)

Card Grading AI (also called CGA) and Binder AI are both phone apps that estimate a card's grade from photos of the front and back, with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and a separate centering tool. The differences are in platforms, grading scales, pricing and what comes with the grade. Facts below were checked as of October 2026 from the App Store and each company's own pages. We make Binder AI, so we've stuck to published facts.

Card Grading AI's App Store page lists in-app purchase names and prices but not what each one includes or how long it lasts, so check inside the app before you buy. Its listing describes results as estimates based on your photos, not official certification, which is true of every AI grading app including Binder AI.

Where each one fits

Choose Card Grading AI if you're on iPhone, you collect mostly Pokémon, sports, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh! or Lorcana, and you like browsing set checklists and lists of cards that might be worth grading. A one-time lifetime purchase may also appeal if you'd rather not pay a recurring subscription.

Choose Binder AI if you want to see the estimate on a specific scale (PSA, BGS or TAG), you want to grade on a computer as well as your phone, or you collect One Piece, Digimon, WWE or non-sport cards. Binder AI also puts eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table next to each estimate, which helps answer the real question: is this card worth grading?

Checking centering yourself

Both apps include a centering tool because centering is the one subgrade you can measure precisely from a photo. Whichever card grading AI app you use, a quick manual check is a good habit: measure the left and right borders, then the top and bottom, and compare the ratio with your grading company's limits. Our free card centering calculator does the maths for you. Corners, edges and surface are harder, since glare and sleeves can hide whitening and scratches, so shoot out of the sleeve, in even light, with the card filling the frame.

About Binder AI

Binder AI is an AI pre-grading app for iOS, Android and the web. You photograph the front and back of a card and get an overall grade estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale you choose, with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written condition notes. It also has a manual centering tool, identifies the card, shows eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table, and sorts cards into binders by game or sport with sharing and wishlists. It supports Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon, Lorcana, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, WWE and non-sport cards. The app is free to download, and grading is included in a subscription: $1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website ($4.99/month or $29.99/year in the App Store).

About Card Grading AI

Card Grading AI is an iOS and Android app published by Matteo Giannessi (Buconero Apps). You photograph the front and back of a card to get an estimated grade with all four subgrades, check border alignment with a dedicated centering tool, and revisit your grading history and digital slabs. It also lets you build a portfolio that follows estimated value, browse a TCG catalog of cards and sets, and track the cards you own or still need. Its App Store listing says catalog coverage and prices vary by card and set, and that it is independent of grading companies and card brands. It is free to download, and some features need an in-app purchase.
