Short answer
Pick HoloDex if you want one app for a wide spread of TCGs, including Dragon Ball Super, Gundam, Union Arena, Riftbound and Star Wars: Unlimited, with portfolio charts, duplicates, profit and loss tracking and price alerts. Pick Binder AI if you want a grade estimate on a named grading scale with written condition notes, eBay sold prices and a graded value table, or if your collection includes baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, WWE or non-sport cards. If grading is your deciding factor, run the same cards through both, as described at the end of this page.

HoloDex is rated 4.8 from about 24,600 ratings on the US App Store, and its latest version (2.4) came out on October 26, 2026. HoloDex's App Store in-app purchase list does not label every item with a billing period. Two items are labeled only "English" ($9.99 and $39.99), and others are offers such as "Special Offer" $24.99, "Special HoloDex Discount" $29.99, "HoloDex Deal" $34.99 and "HoloDex Premium functionalities" $49.99. What you are shown in the app may depend on the offer you see.
How each app works
HoloDex is built around scanning and portfolio tracking. You point the camera at a card, it identifies it and pulls a market price, and the card goes into a portfolio. Its listing describes duplicate tracking, wishlists, multi-device sync, multi-currency support and profit and loss tracking, and the latest release notes add chart filters for cards and sealed product. Its AI grading feature looks for whitening, centering issues and surface wear, and it sits behind the paid plan according to the listing.
Binder AI starts from a photo of the front and a photo of the back. You choose the PSA, BGS or TAG scale, and you get an overall estimate with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written notes on what it saw. The card is identified, and you see recent eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table next to the estimate. If you want to check centering by hand, use the manual tool in the app or the free card centering calculator on this site.
Where HoloDex is stronger
- More TCGs. HoloDex lists eleven card games, including several Binder AI does not cover, such as Dragon Ball Super, Gundam, Union Arena, Riftbound and Star Wars: Unlimited.
- Portfolio tools. Profit and loss tracking, duplicates, multi-currency and sealed product charts are aimed at collectors who treat cards as a portfolio.
- Price alerts. Its website says you can set alerts on price moves.
- Languages. Its latest update added Japanese, Chinese, Korean and French language support.
Where Binder AI is stronger
- Named grading scale and subgrades. Binder AI gives an estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale with four subgrades and written notes. HoloDex's listing describes condition insights but does not list a scale choice or subgrades.
- Sports and non-sport cards. Binder AI covers baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, WWE and non-sport cards. HoloDex lists TCGs only.
- Sold prices and graded values. eBay sold prices and a graded value table show what a PSA 9 or 10 might be worth next to the estimate.
- Web access and lower web prices. Binder AI runs in a browser too, and its website plans cost less than its App Store plans.
Which to pick by collector type
- Multi-TCG collector. HoloDex, especially if you play Dragon Ball Super, Gundam, Union Arena, Riftbound or Star Wars: Unlimited.
- Collector who tracks value like an investment. HoloDex's profit and loss and sealed product charts are built for this.
- Collector deciding what to send for grading. Binder AI, for a PSA, BGS or TAG estimate with subgrades. Pair it with the is my card worth grading calculator.
- Sports card collector. Binder AI, since HoloDex does not list sports cards.
- Someone who wants to use a laptop. Binder AI, which has a web version.

Try both on the same cards
Both apps cost money for grading, so a short test on cards you already know is the fairest way to choose.
- Pick three to five raw cards whose real grade you will learn soon, or cards a friend has already had graded and cracked out.
- Photograph each card front and back on a dark flat surface with soft light and no glare.
- Run them through both apps. In Binder AI, choose PSA or BGS so you can line the result up with the grading company you use.
- Write down what each app says about centering, corners, edges and surface next to the real grade.
- Also scan a few cards for price and see which app's values and collection view you prefer.
A handful of cards will not prove accuracy, but it will show which app suits your cards and how you like to collect. HoloDex's $4.99 weekly item and Binder AI's $1.99 week on the pricing page keep the test cheap.
