The Best Sports Card Scanner Apps in 2026

Facts checked October 28, 2026 · By the Binder AI Team (we make Binder AI)

Point your phone at a baseball, basketball or football card and most of these apps will name it and give you a price. The differences show up in grading, price sources and collection tools. This roundup covers the most popular sports card scanners on the App Store, checked as of October 2026 against each app's own listing and website. We make Binder AI, so we've stuck to published facts and linked a full comparison for every app.

How we compared

We read each app's App Store listing, its in-app purchase list, its website and its Google Play listing if it has one. We did not test scan speed or accuracy, and we haven't quoted download or revenue estimates. Ratings are App Store US averages as of October 2026. Many of these apps list several prices without billing periods, so check the price in the app before you subscribe.

The apps in more detail

Binder AI

Binder AI is an AI pre-grading app for iOS, Android and the web. You photograph the front and back of a card and get an overall grade estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale you choose, with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written condition notes. It also has a manual centering tool, identifies the card, shows eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table, and sorts cards into binders by game or sport with sharing and wishlists. It supports Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon, Lorcana, baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, WWE and non-sport cards. The app is free to download, and grading is included in a subscription: $1.99/week, $3.99/month or $24.99/year on the website ($4.99/month or $29.99/year in the App Store).

StarSnap

The most rated app in this group. It identifies sports cards from a scan or an uploaded photo, calls out autographs and limited editions, and comes in 12 languages. Premium adds unlimited identifications and market reports. Read Binder AI vs StarSnap.

Cardly AI

Sports cards first, with Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon, Lorcana and One Piece too. It adds an AI chat, price history, collection value and a batch scan purchase. Read Binder AI vs Cardly.

Cardstock

A collector's database as much as a scanner. It has set checklists with shared templates, nested folders, iCloud sync and CSV export, and its eBay sold values switch between raw and graded. Read Binder AI vs Cardstock.

Spoly

Prices from eBay sales, auction results and marketplaces, plus reminders for releases, grading submissions and listing deadlines, notes and tags, and a watchlist. Read Binder AI vs Spoly.

Digital Grading Co

A grading app that added sports scanning. It scores cards on its own DeepMint scale with five subgrades, including structure for warping, and a confidence score. It doesn't predict a PSA, BGS or CGC grade. Read Binder AI vs Digital Grading Co.

Sports Card Scanner Value

A simple app that identifies a card from a photo and gives its edition and an estimated market value. Its listing doesn't describe collection features. Read Binder AI vs Sports Card Scanner Value.

How to choose

  • You're deciding what to send to PSA or BGS. Pick an app that estimates a grade on that scale, then check the fees with the grading ROI calculator.
  • You want checklists and a big organized database. Cardstock is built for that.
  • You flip cards and want reminders. Spoly tracks deadlines and listings.
  • You also collect Pokémon or other TCGs. See the best Pokémon card scanner apps.
  • You want a marketplace inside the app. See CollX alternatives and Ludex alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free sports card scanner app?

All of the apps here are free to download, but most limit scans or features until you subscribe, and their listings rarely say where the limit is. Try two or three on the same cards and see which free tier covers what you need as of October 2026.

Which sports card apps estimate a grade?

Binder AI estimates a grade on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale with four subgrades. Digital Grading Co uses its own DeepMint scale. Cardly and Spoly list a quick or preliminary grade without naming a scale, and StarSnap gives condition words rather than a number.

Which sports card scanner apps work on Android?

Binder AI, StarSnap, Cardly, Spoly and Digital Grading Co have Android apps. We didn't find Android versions of Cardstock or Sports Card Scanner Value.

Is a scanner app price the same as what my card will sell for?

Not always. Apps differ in whether they show recent sold prices, asking prices or an estimate, and graded cards sell for very different amounts than raw ones. Check recent sales for the exact card, parallel and grade before you buy or sell.
