Which MyDex is this?
This page covers MyDex TCG Card Scanner by Alberto Moral (App Store id6739222650), whose website is pokedex.trading. It is not the same app as Dex by Pedro Carrasco (Dexbit), which we compare in Binder AI vs Dex, and it is not HoloDex. The names are close, so check the developer name before you download.

How each app works
MyDex is built around speed of intake. You point the camera at a card, it identifies it and shows a market price, and you can keep scanning through a stack before adding everything to your collection in one step. The latest update added a scan summary with a variant selector, Siri and Shortcuts support for opening the scanner, and a floating "Ask MyDex" button you can hide in settings. Inside the collection you track exact variants and copy counts, see completion progress for each expansion, and export to CSV.
Binder AI starts from a photo of the front and a photo of the back. It identifies the card, then gives an overall grade estimate on the PSA, BGS or TAG scale you pick, with centering, corners, edges and surface subgrades and written notes. Next to that it shows eBay sold prices, price history and a graded value table, so you can see what a 9 or a 10 has been selling for. Cards go into binders by game or sport.
Where MyDex is stronger
- Bulk scanning into a collection. Its listing is built around scanning a whole stack and adding it in one go, which suits sorting a big pile of pulls.
- Set completion. MyDex shows how far along you are in every expansion. Binder AI does not offer set progress.
- Variants and copies. It tracks the exact variant and how many copies you own.
- CSV export. You can export your collection to a spreadsheet.
- Non-English cards and app languages. The app is offered in 15 languages and the latest update improves matching for several European card languages.
- A web research site. pokedex.trading has free card search, a set value calculator and a set symbol finder.
Where Binder AI is stronger
- Grade estimates. Binder AI gives a PSA, BGS or TAG estimate with subgrades and notes. MyDex does not list grading. Its developer does publish a separate App Store app called Grade My Card, which is outside this comparison.
- Sold prices and graded values. Binder AI shows eBay sold prices and a graded value table, which helps answer whether a card is worth sending in. Try the is my card worth grading calculator for the math.
- Android and web. Binder AI runs on iOS, Android and the web. We found MyDex on Apple's App Store only.
- Sports cards and more TCGs. Binder AI lists Pokémon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon, Lorcana and the major sports. MyDex's website and copy focus on Pokémon.
Which to pick by collector type
- Pokémon set collector. MyDex, for completion progress and variant tracking.
- Collector sorting a big box of pulls. MyDex's stack scanning is built for this.
- Collector deciding what to submit for grading. Binder AI, since it gives a grade estimate and graded sold prices.
- Sports card or multi-game collector. Binder AI covers sports, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Digimon and Lorcana.
- Android user. Binder AI, since we found no MyDex Android app.
- Both. Use MyDex to catalog and Binder AI to check the few cards that might be worth grading.

Try both on the same cards
Because these apps do different jobs, the useful test is whether each one helps with your actual pile.
- Pick ten cards, including a few you think might be worth grading.
- Scan all ten in MyDex and check that each one matched the right set and variant.
- Run the two or three best-looking cards through Binder AI with clear front and back photos, and note the grade estimate and centering subgrade.
- Compare the raw value MyDex shows with the graded sold prices Binder AI shows, and decide whether grading is worth the fee.
Binder AI's weekly plan keeps that test cheap. Plans are on the pricing page.
